Habitats in the Neritic Zone...
Coral Reefs
The Floridian coral reef tract is the most extensive living system in the US, and third most in the world. Not only a great tourism spot where many celebrities claim to "live in", but home to a variety of sea life. Coral Reefs are abundant in activity and are usually described as colorful and lively, as displayed in Disney-Pixar's movie Finding Nemo. Coral reefs are mainly composed of coral such as Staghorn Coral. The world's coral reefs are currently in danger and shrinking in size. We must conserve them, considering the amount of tourism, food resources, and oxygen released by the Coral Reefs.
Ocean Floor
Coral Reefs can be located on the ocean floor, and so can many filter-feeders. The Red Grouper and types of flounder can be found among bacteria and other strange-looking bottom dwellers. The floor is usually littered with coral in the neritic zone, but has more nutrients the deeper you get into it, making it a common resource for producers and consumers alike.
Ocean Surface
The ocean surface is where one would find Loggerhead Turtles as well as many dolphins and many marine mammals pop up for air, and where the most productive algal blooms occur. Unfortunately, one a also find boats here. The motors and overfishing problems brought over by these boats, as well as the high risk of breaking coral, have made boats a large problem. The surface of the ocean should be treated with respect to the law as well as respect to nature, or many resources would go away.
